이번시간엔 미국 캘리포니아 대학탐방편으로

LA에 위치한 유명한 주립 대학교 UCLA (a.k.a 우크라^^;)로 한번 가 봤습니다.

샌디에고, 얼바인에 5년 살면서 LA도 자주 오면서 UCLA는 저에게 매우 친숙한

곳이예요, 더불어 우리 미국 영어캠프 아이들 필수코스로 일정을 넣는 편입니다.

일반적으로 한국에서 예전에 NCAA 농구팀이 엄청 유명해서 UCLA가 농구 잘하는 학교구나~
라고 이름을 알리다가 사실 서부에선 공립중에는 UC 버클리 다음으로 최고 명문 이지요!

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), is a public research university in the Westwood district of Los Angeles, United States. It became the Southern Branch of the University of California in 1919, making it the second-oldest undergraduate campus of the 10-campus University of California system.[11] It offers 337 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a wide range of disciplines.[12] UCLA enrolls about 31,000 undergraduate and 13,000 graduate students,[7] and had 119,000 applicants for Fall 2016, including transfer applicants, the most applicants for any American university.[13]

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2018–2019 ranked UCLA 17th in the world for academics, second U.S. public university for academics, and ninth in the world for reputation.[19][20] In 2017, UCLA ranked 12th in the world (10th in North America) by the Academic Ranking of World Universities[21] and 33rd in the 2017–2018 QS World University Rankings.[22] In 2017, the Center for World University Rankings ranked the university 15th in the world based on quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty, publications, influence, citations, broad impact, and patents.[23] In 2018–2019, US News & World Report ranked UCLA as the top public university in the U.S.[24]
UCLA student-athletes compete as the Bruins in the Pac-12 Conference. The Bruins have won 126 national championships, including 116 NCAA team championships, more than any other university except Stanford, who has won 117.[25][26][27] UCLA student-athletes, coaches and staff won 251 Olympic medals: 126 gold, 65 silver and 60 bronze.[28] UCLA student-athletes competed in every Olympics since 1920 with one exception (1924), and won a gold medal in every Olympics the U.S. participated in since 1932.[29]

긴 역사와 업적들 학교 소개를 저 몇 줄에 대략적으로 담아 놨습니다. 보통 LA키즈캠프 윈터스쿨링 숙소와

불과 15분 정도 거리로 아주 가깝게 UCLA가 있어요. 그래서 겸사겸사 학교 방문을 하게 되었습니다.

역시나 주차는 무조건 돈 내고 칼같이 해 놔야 합니다. 처음 오시는 한국 분들 돈 아깝다고 그냥 냈다가
귀신같은 주차요원의 감시를 벗어날 수 없지요. 3불 아끼려다 30~50불 날아가는 곳이 미국입니다. 뭐든 법대로 철저히 해야 합니다^^ 시간당 2불이었나 그랬던 기억이 나네요!

내 위치를 정확히 파악하고 계단을 통하여 밖으로 나갑니다. 첨 보이는 광경!
건물양식으로 보았을때 확실히 역사나 전통이 느껴집니다.
